Frequently Asked Questions

We are looking forward to host you at the 13th International meeting of Society of Neuroscientists of Africa (SONA) in Entebbe Uganda, the Pearl of Africa. This year’s conference is jointly organised between Makerere University, St. Augustine International University and TReND in Africa.

The conference will take place over a total of four days filled with exciting symposia and plenary lectures by top international speakers covering diverse areas of brain research, with a special focus on topics of particular relevance to Africa and its scientific development.

The organizing committee has made arrangements to create the ideal environment for you to learn and share knowledge on basic research to innovations in Neuroscience. The main theme of the conference is:

Neuroscience: a tool for the advancement of the African scientific community.

Registration

The conference organizers will confirm all registrations by sending you an invoice that contains the necessary Bank Transfer details. Don’t worry if you are not able to make the necessary Bank transfer. The organizers can receive payment onsite. Please come with your invoice.

The registration fees are payable in US Dollars only and will include:

  1. Admission to all scientific sessions for the duration of the conference, excluding pre-conference workshops
  2. Conference bag
  3. Programme, abstract book and other congress material
  4. Luncheons and teas
  5. Admission to the social functions

SONA Membership Registration

This is different from conference registration. All SONA members are requested to pay their registration fee onsite. There will be a separate desk for this purpose.

Please note that registration for the conference as SONA member will only be confirmed on presentation of receipt of payment of membership fee.

Cancellation of Registration

Notice of cancellation must be given in writing by sending an email to Isabella, (ugsociety@yahoo.com). Cancellations received by the May 20, 2017 will result in a 25% penalty. All cancellations received after the May 31, 2017 will not be eligible for any refund and will result in a 100% cancellation fee.

Visa Information

Participants are encouraged to apply for their visa through the following website: https://visas.immigration.go.ug/.

Invitation Letter

For a letter of invitation please send your request to sadiqyus@gmail.com. Please note that, you will only receive a letter of invitation if you have an accepted abstract and registered for the conference.

Personal Insurance

Please note that all delegates are responsible for their own travel insurance, medical insurance.

Language

The meeting will be conducted in English. No translation service will be available.

Name Badges

All participants must wear their name badges during the conference and during social functions for security reasons.

Accommodation

Please click the accommodation tab for a list of hotels. Participants need to book directly with the hotel to qualify for the negotiated rate. Delegates are required to book and prepay a deposit equal to the first nights’ accommodation in order to guarantee their reservation.
