Pierre Magistretti’s work focuses on Cellular Dynamics and Neuroenergetics – the energy bill of the nervous system. Brain-metabolism touches on multiple facets of neuronal function and organisation, and Pierre’s work has contributed at many facets, including research related to Alzheimer’s disease, plasticity and learning, the sleep-wake cycle and Neurophotonics. Pierre has received numerous awards throughout his career, and taken on key academic responsibilities, including his Presidency of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) as well as the Swiss Society for Neuroscience. Pierre currently acts as the Director of the Brain Mind Institute at EPFL and as the President of the International Brain Research Organisation.
